Drones have become increasingly popular among the U.S. army and the reason is that they have ability to transform (has already transformed to quite an extent) the way America has been fighting and the way it has been thinking about its wars. According to the intelligence officials of the United States, these unmanned aerial vehicles that are commonly called drones have proved to be one of the most effective weapons against the terrorist organization, the Al Qaeda. These planes are piloted through remotes and the Central Intelligence Agency has been using these for surveillance over Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan since videos are recorded and then transmitted with these vehicles. These vehicles are also used conduct attacks where America thinks are potential places for the residence of terrorist groups. According to statistics and reports drone attacks that have been conducted during the presidency of Obama are way more than the number of attacks that were conducted under President George W. Bush.

The use of drones for surveillance and for conducting attacks over different countries has attracted a huge deal of criticism for America. America demonstrates these vehicles as symbol of power and the attacks that have been conducted using these drones have also caused the killing of many innocent people (The New York Times, 2013). An international precedent has been set by America by the use of drones, with China and Russia watching. There have been many occasions when America sent these drones to kill the enemies on its borders but unfortunately ended up killing its own citizens.

Many human rights activists and other organizations have questioned the legality of these drone attacks and the Obama administration has always given the argument that under the military action that was authorized by Congress after the attacks of September 11, 2001 these drone attacks against the Al Qaeda are legalized. Moreover, the administration also argues that these attacks are made under the general principle of self-defense. In the consideration of these rules, the attacks that are launched by drones cannot be termed as assassination that is banned as a part of the executive order.

7,000 aerial drones are owned by the Pentagon at the moment. Almost ten years ago, the Pentagon only had 50 or even less number of drones. The pentagon has also asked the Congress for almost $5 billion for the manufacture and maintenance of these drones in the budget of the fiscal year 2012-13.

Committee of Representatives of the Parliament

Martha Roby

Martha DubinaRony is the U.S. Representative for the second congressional district of Alabama. She was born on the 26th of July 1976 and is a member of the Republican Party. In the United States House of Representatives elections that took place in Alabama in 2010, she defeated Representative Bobby Bright by a narrow margin. She assumed her office after winning the elections in January 2011. Terri Sewell and Roby are the first women who have been elected to Congress from the state of Alabama and that too in regular elections.

The birth place of Martha Roby is Montgomery, Alabama. She attended the New York University from where she received her bachelor degree in music. After that she attended the Cumberland School of Law that comes under the Samford University situated in Birmingham, Alabama, from where she received her J.D. In the year 2001. Roby is the daughter of Joel F. Dubona who was the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Before becoming a part of the active politics of America, Roby worked for Copeland, France that was a law firm.

When she served in the Council during her first term, she was joined by three other council members as well as the then mayor Bobby Bright to lobby against the construction of a shopping mall in East Montgomery, supported an increase of 10% on cigarette, planned an opposition against the privatization of the disposal of household garbage and also advocated for a sales tax holiday for the state. Since she was given the task of managing the immigration committee, she also worked hard on the prevention and management of illegal immigration. The goal of this committee, which was headed by her, was to make a law that would cancel all the trade licenses for firms that hired illegal immigrants.

Roby has claimed herself to be a staunch Republican. By this statement she means that she believes in the sanctity of life and that governments should be limited with small taxes and greater ease for the public. As of her beliefs pertaining to the Defense policies of the country, she has always voted against the reductions in the defense budget of the country. Therefore, there are high chances that she could question about the amount of money that is being spent on the manufacture and management of drones. She might also ask if that money is sufficient and if not then more should be allotted from the budget. Moreover, she has also promised the House and the public that she would do whatever it takes to prevent any cuts in defense spending. Even when an announcement was made regarding the reduction in Aircraft and Navy Procurement, she voted against this decision (Kitchen, 2005). Furthermore, she voted in favor of the many extensions of the budget of the armed forces. On the other hand, she has somewhat focused on the cutting down on the non-defense budget of the state. When voting was conducted pertaining to the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan back in the year 2011, Roby voted a “no” for it. Keeping in view her firm stands for the defense of the country, it is expected that she would ask various questions regarding the efficiency of the drones in conducting attacks for self-defense and for surveillance of the areas where America thinks that the terrorists’ organizations are residing and developing. She might also want to make sure that there are enough drones allotted for a certain region or country (Kitchen, 2012).

Mo Brooks

Morris Brooks is the United States Representative for the 5th congressional district of Alabama and is the member of the Republican Party. He was born on the 29th of April, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina after which he moved to Huntsville, Alabama in the year 1963. He was the son of Betty J. who was a teacher of economics and government for more than twenty years. She used to teach at Lee High School when Brooks was attending Grissom High School. Meanwhile his father, Morris Jackson, was raised in Tennessee and was an electrical engineer by profession and used to work at Metrology Center of Redstone Arsenal. His parents are still the residents of Madison County in Alabama (Khan, 2010).

Brooks completed his high school from Grissom High School in the year 1972. After that he attended the Duke University and completed his bachelor’s degree in three years and achieved a double major in subjects of economics and political science. Later on he graduated from the University Of Alabama School Of Law in the year 1978.

The office of Tuscaloosa District Attorney was the place where the legal career of Brooks started from. In the year 1980, Brooks left this office when he returned to Huntsville and served as a law clerk John David Snodgrass, who was the presiding Circuit Court Judge. With the exception of the year when Brooks was served as court clerk or the prosecutor, Brooks practiced law in every year. However, Brooks maintained his national practice in the specialty of commercial litigation (Stephens, 2010).

Brooks has always wanted peace to prevail in the world and he has always advocated the point that America should withdraw its forced from Afghanistan now that Osama bin Laden has been killed. He believed that America does not have to act like the police of the world and it should rather focus on the problems within the country than those that are present in Afghanistan. He also did not support the position of President Obama pertaining to the involvement of Americans in the matters of Libya in the year 2011. As he has generally maintained a stance of peace and has not supported the position of the administration of Obama regarding the approach of self-defense, there are high chances that he would question the legality of the conduction of drone attacks now that the head of Al Qaeda and the main enemy of America Osama bin Laden has been killed. Since he is a lawyer he would raise many questions that are related to the legal matters with the use of drones for the transmission of videos from countries including Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He might ask for a solid justification why America still needs to make use of drones to watch over what is going on in other countries and why attacks are conducted by these drones that have also killed many innocent people and even America’s own citizens. Although he has advocated for the increased use of drones, it still needs to be made sure whether he wants the use of drones to increase for the purpose of attacks and surveillance alone or he wants the increased use of drones for some other purposes that would not cause harm to any innocent human life.

Brooks has been assigned the committee assignments of Armed Forces, Space and Technology and Aeronautics so it is very much likely that he would raise questions about the technicalities that are involved in the operation of drones. He might ask as to how the operations of these drones can be improved and other questions regarding the mechanics of drones.

Paul Gosar

Paul Anthony Gosar, member of the Republican Party is the United States House of Represented since the year 2011 from Arizona. Born on 27th November 1958 he is the representative of the 4th congressional district of Arizona. The district that he represents includes most part of the rural western portion of Arizona. During his first term, Gosar was the representative of the 1st district that is the neighboring district of the 4th district (Wilson, 2012).

Native of Pinedale, Wyoming, Gosar is the son of Bernadette M. And Antone Jon Gosar. His father was a Slovenian, meanwhile his mother was a Basque and she had migrated from the French city of Banca. Pete Gosar, who was a famous college football player and a student at the University of Wyoming, is the younger brother of Gosar. Pete Gosar also known for making an attempt for a nomination for the office of Governor of Wyoming as a candidate of the Democratic Party in the year 2010, in which he did not succeed.

Gosar completed his degree in dentistry from Creighton Boyne School of Dentistry. After graduating, he practiced his profession in Flagstaff for almost 25 years. He was nominated as the “Dentist of the Year” by the Arizona Dental Association for the year 2001 and he was later on also nominated for the ADA Hall of Fame for which he served as the President. Moreover, he was also made the President of the Northern Arizona Dental Society. Gosar was then also named the Vice-Chair of the ADA Council on Governmental Affairs.

According to Gosar, the Second Amendment is a very important set of rights that have been provided by the Bill of Rights and he believes that anything should be done to make sure that these basic rights of the people should not be restricted or infringed under any circumstances. He claims that these are the rights of the people that have been protected by the constitution. He was also the cosponsor for the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act that was brought forth in the year 2011. This is the bill that would make it possible for the people who are not the citizens of the states to have hidden carry license to carry hidden weapons in that particular state. The “Amendment to Restore 2nd Amendment Rights on Army Corps of Engineers Administered Recreational Lands” was also sponsored by Gosar. This is amendment that would legalize the citizens to carry weapons when they moving about on the land that has been administered by the Army of Corps of Engineers. Because of his efforts for carrying the concealed weapons, he was endorsed by the National Rifle Association. According to some reports he was also given a rating of 92% by NRA. NRA is not the only association that endorsed him, but Gun Owners of America also endorsed him and gave him a rating of 75%.

Gosar has not made any claims or has not passed any judgments or arguments regarding the drone attacks or the increased use of drones by America. Moreover, he has also not said any for or against the stance of the Obama’s administration on the increased use of drones to transmit the videos from Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. On the other hand, he has not expressed any kind of opposition for the proposals of increasing the number of drones that are owned by Pentagon at the moment. Therefore, it cannot be said definitely as to what would be his objections on the analysis of the drones, but there are chances that he would also be in the favor of increased use and manufacture of drones considering his favor of carrying weapons by the citizens for purposes of self-defense.

Tom Cotton

Member of the Republican Party, Thomas Cotton was born on the 13th of May in the year 1977. He is a member of the United States House of Representatives and is the representative of the 4th congressional district of Arkansas since the year 2013.

Cotton was born in Russellville, Arkansas. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. After graduating he started working as a law clerk and then later on worked as an attorney as a part of his private practice before he made it to the list of the United States Army in the year 2005. Cotton serves a term in Iraq and then in Afghanistan before he left the U.S. Army and retired as a Captain the year 2009. Before he returned to his hometown, he was a management consultant at McKinsey and Company. When he returned to his hometown, he worked on the cattle farm of his family.

In the year 2011, Cotton announced that he would be an election candidate would run for the Congress under the Republican Party. Cotton made it to the list of the United States Army in the year 2005 after which was asked to enter the Officer Candidate School in the same year. He was given the rank of a second lieutenant in the United States Army in June of the same year. Later on, Cotton attended the Ranger School and the United States Army Airborne School (Tom Cotton About, 2011).

Cotton was deployed in Baghdad, Iraq in the project of Operation Iraqi Freedom that was planned in the year 2006. He worked in this project as the platoon leader and infantry officer. Being a part of the 101st Airborne Division, he was given the responsibility of the air assault infantry platoon that consisted of 41 men. Therefore, he was also responsible for the leadership and planning of the combat patrol that were conducted on a daily basis (Baumann, 2012). His first military tour was completed in the year 2006 in Iraq after which he was also honored with the Combat Infantrymen Badge, Army Commendation Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal to name a few among the many military service and combat medals that were awarded to Cotton. In the year 2008, Cotton once again wanted to be a part of a military duty after which he was given a promotion and he became a Captain. This time he was made a part of the Operation Enduring Freedom and was deployed in Afghanistan. The province of Afghanistan that was assigned to him was not an easy one. He was made responsible for the Laghman Province that is situated in the north of the Tora Bora mountain range in the eastern region of Afghanistan. After Cotton returned from his second tour of Afghanistan in the year 2009 he was honored with the Bronze Star Medal and a couple of other military service medals for his duties that he performed in the battle field. In the September of 2009, Cotton was discharged from the Army with great honor at Fort Myer in Virginia.

Since Cotton has been a part of the military campaigns in the countries against which American makes use of the drones the most, Cotton can come up with objections pertaining to the appropriate use of these vehicles in the military campaigns. He can also raise technical questions about the importance of drones in the military attacks that are conducted against these countries and whether or not there is an alternate to these unmanned air vehicles.

Duncan D. Hunter

Born on the 7th of December 1976, Duncan Hunter is a member of the House of Representatives of the United States. Hunter has been serving the Congress since the year 2009. He is the former representative of the 52nd congressional district of California. His father Duncan Lee Hunter was posted on this office before him. When redistricting took place, Hunter’s district was moved to the 50th district when the 113th Congress started in the beginning of this year.

The district of which Hunter is the representative (being a member of the Republican Party) covers virtually all of the San Diego County with exception of the border and coastal areas. The areas that come under the district of Hunter include San Marcos, Fallbrook, Santee, Valley Center, Lakeside and Escondido. Moreover the desert and the mountain areas along with the Imperial County also come under the district of Hunter. Being a former officer in the United States Marine Corps as well, Hunter is a veteran of the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War. Moreover, he is also named among the seven representatives of the United States Congress who have performed military duties in the either Afghanistan or Iraq. Hunter also has the honor of being the first member of the Congress who was a part of either of the two conflicts mentioned above.

As mentioned above, Hunter was a part of the War in Afghanistan as well as the War in Iraq. Therefore, he understood the threats that were associated with these regions and the terrorist organizations against which campaigns were launched by America especially in Afghanistan. When Obama Administration was considering the complete withdrawal of the United States Army by the end of the year 2011, Hunter opposed this consideration and he decided to call upon the President because he believed that American should not make the mistake of completely withdrawing the Army from Afghanistan since the leadership in Afghanistan was not reliable and this decision could put America in danger (Hegseth, 2010). When he returned from his visit to Afghanistan as a part of the delegation of congressmen in the year 2012, he made an assessment according to which he believed that during his last visit he was not confident if the Afghans could have done this but now he thinks that they definitely did (Scarborough, 2013).

One of the subcommittee assignments that Hunter has been made responsible includes the Subcommittee on Upcoming Threats and Capabilities. Since drones are being used as the latest weapons by the United States Army and they have completely changed the way Americans used to fight their wars, this is a topic that Hunter would be interested in. He would analyze the preliminary research on drones critically and would raise questions regarding the use of drones against the threats that the country has these days. He would also raise questions regarding the use of drones as alternate to air vehicles that are controlled and operated by human beings.

There are many objections that are expected of Hunter. He has always talked about cutting on the unnecessary spending in the budget. Since the number of drones that are owned by the Pentagon as of now are almost 70,000 as compared to less than 50 drones in the last ten years, Hunter might question if the Congress and the United States Army requires this number of drones or is it just excessive spending. Hunter has been an officer in the United States Army so he might be in the favor of military officers operating the air vehicles. Even though drones are operated through remote control system by the military and intelligence officers, it does have the potential to take over the job that was being done by army officials, which might be of concern for Hunter.

Committee of Senators

Rand Paul

Born on the 7th of January 1963, Randal Paul has been named as the junior United States Senator for the state of Kentucky (Solomon, 2010). Being a member of the Republican Party, he was also appointed as a part of the Tea Party movement. According to Paul, he is a libertarian and a “constitutional conservative.” He understands the working of the Senate and American politics well as he is the son of the former Congressman Ron Paul (of Texan), who was also the candidate for 2012 Republican presidential elections. The first time when Paul attracted the attention of the people was in the year 2008 when he was seen making political speeches on his father’s behalf. According to reports, Rand Paul has the title of being the only Senator in the United States who has a parent serving in the United States House of Representatives (Stewart, 2010).

Paul graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine and then started practicing ophthalmology in the year 1993 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In the year 2007, he also established his own private clinic. He is also the chairman of the Kentucky Taxpayers United, an organization that was also founded by him in 1994 (Schreiner, 2010).

When Senator Jim Bunning was retiring in the year 2010, Paul contested on the seat that was being vacated by him as a representative of the Republican Party. In these elections he defeated Trey Grayson, who is the Kentucky Secretary of State. It was indeed a great achievement on the part of Paul to have won the seat over Jack Conway, who was the Kentucky Attorney General because Paul had not been responsible for any political office before this. Paul has been an active advocated of the Read the Bills Act, term limits and a reasonable budget amendment as a part of the Tea Party movement. Apart from this, he has also been supporting the reduction of taxation and federal spending. He always supported and stood for his independent ideas and this is one of the reasons why he has gained immense prominence. In this process, he has also had many clashes with the Democrats as well as the Republicans.

Paul believes that since there is no border security of the country, the country is at a great national security threat. According to him the main function of the federal government and the Constitution is national defense. He advocates that people from certain countries should not be issued visas for America. Paul has also been advocating the fact that terrorists who are caught at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp should be tried along with the terrorists who are caught during military tribunals. Paul also has a staunch stance pertaining to the drone attacks that are conducted every now and then in Obama administration. He introduced a bill in the Senate that said that before the military agencies of the country have to make a drone attack at a place, a warrant should be issued to them (Cooke, 2012). Therefore, Paul would definitely raise objections with respect to the use of the drones and the violation of the fourth Amendment. He believes that the military and intelligence agencies cannot make use of the drones on the grounds of suspicion. Moreover, he would also ask the presenters to justify the use of drones with respect to the death of innocent people and intrusion of another country’s air space with their permission.

Michael Bennet

Born on 28th November 1964, Bennet is a United States Senator from the state of Colorado. He has many titles to his name. He has been a lawyer, a politician and a businessman. He is a representative of the Democratic Party. He also served at the position of the managing director for Anschutz Investment Company. He was also appointed as the chief of staff to the former mayor of Denver, John Hickenlooper. Hickenlooper is also the present Governor of Colorado as well as the Denver Public Schools’ superintendent.

He is the son of Douglas J. Bennet, who was also the college president and an official of the State Department. Bennet is a graduate of the Wesleyan University and was appointed to work for Richard Celeste, who is the Governor of Ohio (Mitchell, 2009). He was also the Editor-in-Chief for the official Yale Law Journal when he was studying Law at Yale Law School. Later on he also worked as a law clerk and then also served as a Counsel to the United States Deputy Attorney General during the Clinton administration.

Bennet served as the managing director of Anschutz Investment Company in Denver for six years and during his tenure he conducted the reorganization of four companies that were troubled and that required the restructuring of more than $3 billion because of debt. When he was working with Mayor Hickenlooper, he did great work to balance the budgets and also made negotiations and different agreements with various stakeholders. After becoming the superintendent of the Denver public school system in the year 2005, he also restructured the proposal of merit pay with the assistance of the local teachers of the school. He was listed among the eleven leading educational activists by the Times magazine in the year 2011 because of his commendable efforts in Denver (Boo, 2009).

Since he was one of the initial advisers on matters of education to President Obama, he was considered to be the frontrunner for the United States Secretary of Education in Obama administration in the year 2008. However, this was not the case as he was appointed to fill the seat that was vacated by Senator Ken Salazar by Governor Bill Ritter. Salazar vacated the seat when he was appointed as the Secretary of the Interior in the year 2009. In the 2010 Senate Elections, Bennet was elected when he defeated the representative of the Republican Party Ken Buck. He is now the chairman of the Bennet has always been working very enthusiastically on matters of education and wants to make sure that every citizen of the country received quality education and has access to it. He has not been given any assignments as such pertaining to the defense or the foreign policy of the country. Although, he has had done some work regarding the budget of the country but he does not have a definite stance as to what amendments need to be made in the budget. Therefore, it is expected that he would not be coming up with many objections or would be raising any sorts of questions on the procurement and use of drones. This is mainly because he has been maintaining a neutral stance on the issue of drones in the senate and it is expected of him to do the same during this presentation as well. However, he could ask about the workings of the drones and the positive role that these drones are playing the security of the country.

John Thune

Born in the small city of Murdo, South Dakota, Thune is the son of Yvonne Patricia whose maiden name was Bodine and Harold Richard Thune. Nick Thune, who is the paternal grandfather of Thune, was a Norwegian immigrant. The Thune Hardware stores that are situated in Murdo and Mitchell, South Dakota were started by Nick Thune and his brother Matt. On the other hand, Thune’s mother was born in Saskatchewan and his maternal grandfather was from Ontario, Canada. Being an active player of college basketball, Thune was an athletic star in high school as well as when he was a student at Biola University (Brooks, 2009). He is still very active in sports and has been a part of many competing events. Thune was also named as the fastest man in the Congress since the year 2009 by “Runner’s World Magazine” that issued a feature with this information.

Thune graduated from Biola University in California in the year 1983 and achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Business. After graduation he went on to receive a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota in the year 1984.

From the years 1985 through 1987, Thune was appointed as a legislative aide for James Abdnor, who was the senator of the United States. George McGovern was considered to be the most iconic personality in liberalism of the United States and in the year 1980 Abdnor made history by defeating McGovern when he was the senator. Son of the Lebanese immigrant, Abdnor had settled in Lyman County, South Dakota. He was the owner and operator of a general store located in a main street and this was the similarity between the Thune’s family and Abdnor’s family.

In the year 1989, Thune was appointed at the position of the executive director of his political party for tenure of two years when he moved to Pierre, South Dakota. Thune then served as Railroad Director of South Dakota. This appointment was made by the Governor George S. Mickelson and Thune served at this position through the years 1991 to 1993. Thune also served as the executive director of the South Dakota Municipal League from the years 1993 to 1996.

Thune would not just accept what the presenters are going to tell him. It is expected that he would make a lot of questions and raise objections to the working of the drones. This is because one of his subcommittee assignments as a senator is to look over the aviation and security of the country. As drones are directly related to these fields, he would put forth questions pertaining to the working of the drones without any pilot. He would make in depth questions with respect to the flying of drones and controlling them through remote control systems. He would ask for ways through which the drone attacks can be prevented from doing damage to where it should not have caused it. One of the other subcommittee assignments that he has been made responsible for include that of technology. Therefore, he would be asking questions that would involve technicalities with the working of drones. Moreover, he has also been made responsible for the subcommittee of budget and financing; he might questions and ask for suggestions through to cut on the defense budget with respect to the procurement of drones. He might ask the reason why the Pentagon needs 70,000 drones for surveillance of only 3-4 countries. Moreover, he could also ask about the field in the military whose funds can be transferred for the procurement and maintenance of drones without affecting the national defense of the country. It is not expected of him to rise ethical questions that are associated with the use of drones of with attacking countries with drones since he has been maintain a neutral stance on the matter.

John Barrasso

Born in the year 1952 in Reading, Pennsylvania, Barrasso is the son of John Anthony Barrasso and Louise M. And traces his ascent in Italy. He graduated from the Central Catholic High School that was situated in Reading in the year 1970 after which he started his educated at college that was the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He then got his credit hours transferred to the Georgetown University that was situated in Washington D.C. From there he received a degree in science in the year 1974. From Georgetown University School of Medicine, Barrasso then also received his M.D. degree in the year 1978. He completed his residency from the Yale Medical School that is situated in New Heaver, Connecticut.

He has been doing a great deal of contribution to the field of medicine. Apart from just practicing orthopedics privately he has also served as the member of the American Medical Associated Council of Ethics and Judicial Affairs, Chief of Staff at the Wyoming Medical Center, President of the National Associated of Physician Broadcasters and the State President of the Wyoming Medical Society.

Barrasso has also served as a rodeo physician for the association that is called Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He was also the member of the “Cowboy Joe Club.” There are many colleges and high schools including the Casper College for which Barrasso offered to work as a volunteer team physician. Barrasso has also been honored with the title of “Wyoming Physician of the Year.” Wyoming National Guard also presented him with the award of “Medal of Excellence” for his services rendered to the National Guard. Moreover, Veteran Foreign Wars also awarded Barrasso the “Legislative Service Award” because he stood by the side of veterains of Wyoming.

In 2007, Barrasso was selected by the Governor (representative of the Democratic Party) Dave Fredenthal so fill the seat in the senate that was vacated by the death of the Senator Craig L. Thomas, who died a month before this appointment. According to state law, it was possible for Freudenthal to bring into consideration only three names out of the list that was issued to him by the Republican State Central Committee. This was because the deceased senator was a representative of the Republican Party. The other two names were that of Tom Sansonetti, who was a lobbyist as well a former Republican State Chairman and that of Cynthia Lummis, the former State Treasurer of Cheyenne. The fourth place in the central committee was taken by Matt Mead. He is the grandson of the Senator Clifford P. Hansen. However, Mead was made the Governor of Wyoming in the year 2010; meanwhile Lummis was made a member of the Congress in the year 2008. After his appointment, Barrasso told everyone that he would also be a candidate for the special election of November 2008 so that he could complete the remainder of Thomas’s tenure. Eventually, this election was won by Barrasso with a greater 73% of the vote.

Barrasso is responsible for the Committee of Foreign Relations. This relevant to talk about here with respect to drones because these unmanned aerial vehicles are mainly used for surveillance over countries which America suspects could be home to terrorist activities and drone attacks are also conducted in these countries. He could ask the presenters in detail about the number of drone attacks that have been conducted so far in the Bush administration and now in the Obama administration. He might also ask the locations of these drone attacks and the number of casualties that resulted. Moreover, he could also ask the number of drones that have been deployed for the transmission of videos from certain countries.

Elizabeth Warren

Born on 22nd of June in the year 1949, Elizabeth Warren is the senior Senator of the United Sates from the state of Massachusetts and is a representative of the Democratic Party. She has also been a professor of bankruptcy law at the Harvard Law School. She is an active advocate of consumer protection and has played her role in the establishment and conception of the United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Warren has to her name a number of popular and academic works and is seen discussing the matters of personal finance and economy very often (Jacobs, 2011).

Warren was born in Oklahoma City after which she went to the George Washington University and then to the University of Houston. In the year 1976, she received her J.D. degree from the Rutgers School of Law-Newark and then resumed her career as a professor and taught law at various universities before becoming a part of Harvard faculty in the early 1990s (Dennis, 2010).

Warren was appointed as the chairperson of the Congressional Oversight Panel during the 2008 financial crisis. This panel was formed to watch over the Troubled Asset Relief Program. She has also served as the Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury and as the Assistant to the President Obama for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Towards the end of the 2000s, she was considered as an influential public policy figure in the country and was also named among the Times 100 most influential people.

In the year 2011, Warren announced that she would be running for the United States Senate elections against the Republican Scott Brown. In the year 2012, the general elections were won by her after which she claimed herself to be the first female Senator from the state of Massachusetts. The major committees that have been assigned to her are Aging, Pensions, Labor, Education, Health and Banking.

Warren has always been associated with the education department and in the field of policy making regarding the financial matters of the country. Therefore, she has not shown any kind of interest so far pertaining to the procurement, maintenance and use of drones for surveillance as well as for the attacks that are conducted by these drones. The kind of questions that she might ask about these unmanned aerial vehicles would more or less be the same as the ones that would be asked by the other senators. The main consideration and point of concern for almost all the senators and members of the house pertaining to the drones, irrespective of their stance, is the fact whether or not these drones are safeguarding the national defense of the country and whether or not these drone attacks are in the interest of the citizens of the country and the country itself. These are the points where the presenters need to satisfy Warren.

Conclusion

The use of drones has been very crucial since the war on terrorism began in Afghanistan and then in Iraq. The use of drones has been increased tremendously in the Obama administration as compared to Bush administration. Their use has also been involved in finding out the location of Osama bin Laden in the year 2011.
